DURICEF Helps Kids Feel Better as They Get Better
In vitro tests indicate that cephalosporins are bactericidal because of their inhibition of cell-wall synthesis. Cefadroxil has been shown to be active against the following organisms both in vitro and in clinical infections: Beta-hemolytic streptococci, Staphylococci (including penicillinase-producing strains), Streptococcus (Diplococcus) pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella species.
NOTE: Only penicillin by the intramuscular route of administration has been shown to be effective in the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. DURICEF® is generally effective in the eradication of streptococcus from the oropharynx. However, data establishing the efficacy of DURICEF for the prophylaxis of subsequent rheumatic fever are not available.

Kids May Feel Better About These Additional Benefits:
  • The once-daily dosing option may enhance compliance (see dosing chart)
  • Pleasant-tasting oral suspension (pineapple-orange flavor)
  • Administration without regard to meals
  • Low incidence of stomach upsets
The most commonly reported side effects with DURICEF are: rash, itching, swelling, diarrhea; dyspepsia, nausea and vomiting have been reported rarely.
